10 February 2021, Shenzhen, China - ZTE Corporation (0763.HK / 000063.SZ), a major international provider of telecommunications, enterprise and consumer technology solutions for the Mobile Internet, today announced that ZTE, the Sichuan Branch of China Telecom, and MediaTek, have jointly completed the industry's first end-to-end commercial verification of FAST (Fusion Assisting Super TDD) in Chengdu.
Based on ZTE's 5G-NR system and a MediaTek Dimensity-powered 5G UE, the Sichuan Branch of China Telecom has conducted the verification of FAST in its commercial 5G network using 2.1 GHz and 3.5 GHz bands. According to the verification result, when compared to 3.5 GHz single carrier, FAST increases the uplink performance by up to 3 times per user at the cell edge.
FAST is a 5G uplink enhancement technology that can take full advantage of both TDD-NR and FDD-NR to boost the effective performance. Using FAST when the UE is dual-stream capable, uplink timeslot availability can be increased up to 100%, enabling maximum spectrum utilization in both time domain and frequency domain.
China Telecom, ZTE and MediaTek will continue to deepen their cooperation to further innovations in 5G network commercialization, through new features and applications of 5G, in order to provide better services and connected experiences for their customers.
