CSL, Hong Kong's leading mobile network operator and Telstra subsidiary, has been named the ‘Best Mobile Carrier’ at the Telecom Asia Awards 2011, held at the InterContinental Hotel in Singapore on Tuesday.
The awards, now in their 14th year, are the largest telecom awards in Asia and recognise outstanding performance by service providers and industry executives. Winners are based on independent nominations and the judging panel comprises 20 financial and industry analysts, industry professionals and editors.
“CSL’s long-term spectrum strategy and vision have put the company in a unique position to take a flexible approach to next generation broadband,” said John C. Tanner, Global Technology Editor of Telecom Asia and Wireless Asia. “We singled out CSL for the execution of that strategy, demonstrated by its network revamp and spectrum re-farming, as well as its decision to focus its subsequent strategy on the customer experience.”
“We would like to thank TelecomAsia for this acknowledgement of industry excellence and it is our commitment to continue delivering the best mobile carrier services to our customers,” CSL Chief Executive Joseph O'Konek said. “Unique among competitors, we have achieved return on our spectrum investments and are maximizing customer experience on the fastest mobile broadband network in Asia Pacific.”
“The CSL team is well deserving of this accolade,” Chairman of CSL and Group Managing Director of Telstra International Group, Tarek Robbiati, added. “The synergy between Telstra and CSL continues to benefit the market and, more importantly, our customers and partners. CSL has been able to lean on assets from Telstra’s extensive network infrastructure, capabilities and experience to deliver a world-class network and services to its customers.”
Mr Robbiati said CSL would continue to invest in its award-winning Next G network to maintain its market and technology leadership in Hong Kong and deliver leading-edge broadband performance to all its customers throughout the territory, while being supported by Telstra International Group’s growing strengths and presence within and outside of Asia.
Headquartered in Hong Kong, the Telstra International Group manages Telstra’s assets outside Australia and New Zealand. These include CSL - Hong Kong’s leading mobile operator, China-based search and advertising businesses and the Telstra International global networks and managed services business.
