ZTE has announced the launch of its new flagship handset the ZTE Skate and the ZTE Libra, which are both available in the UK from today (28 September).
The Skate (pictured on the left) and Libra (pictured on the right) are the first two ZTE own-brand Android-powered smartphones to be released in the UK. Both devices are now available at retailers including Amazon.co.uk, eXpansys, Clove and DPC.
The move follows the announcement by rival Chinese manufacturer Huawei that it is releasing its first own-brand device, the Huawei Blaze, through Phones 4u and Tesco Mobile in October.
Already available in Spain, Brazil and Hong Kong, the ZTE Skate, which runs on Android 2.3 Gingerbread, boasts a large 4.3-inch touch-screen, a fast 800MHz processor and a five-megapixel auto-focus camera.
Meanwhile, the ZTE Libra runs on Android 2.2 Froyo and features a 3.5-inch WVGA touch-screen display with 480x800 pixels as well as a five-megapixel auto-focus camera.
ZTE UK director of mobile device operations Wu Sa said: ‘The Skate puts ZTE on track to become a household name in the UK, synonymous with high quality smartphones and tablets.
‘Like the ZTE Blade, the Skate represents our commitment to producing higher-end smartphones and delivering an enhanced user experience at a competitive price to appeal to the mass market.’
The ZTE Skate is retailing at £229.99 Sim-free, while the Libra is priced at £179.99, also Sim-free.
