9 October 2017, Shenzhen, China – ZTE Corporation (0763.HK / 000063.SZ), a major international provider of telecommunications, enterprise and consumer technology solutions for the Mobile Internet and Turksat, the biggest cable service operator in Turkey today announced that they have jointly released a new HD Hybrid STB.
The development of OTT is booming in recent years and is the killer factor of cord-cutting. Turksat actively responds to the developing trend and challenges by energetically developing broadband network and OTT services in addition to efficient operation of the traditional cable TV.
Since August 2015, ZTE has been focusing on the strategy of development and requirements in TV services field, and has been in close touch and extensive exchange with Turksat. In 2016, ZTE stood out from competitors and won the project of the first DVB-C/OTT hybrid STB of Turksat. On August 25, 2017, ZTE finally passed the user-friendliness test and completed the UAT acceptance. The STB has been put into commercial use in September 2017.
This new Hybrid STB adopts the BCM high-performance chipset and features Live TV recording, time shift TV, PIP, OTT VOD, and voice search and control. Compared with traditional SD zapper STBs, it brings more vivid precise pictures and immersive audios, thereby improving users’ experience significantly .
