10 January 2018, Shenzhen, China - ZTE Corporation (0763.HK / 000063.SZ), a major international provider of telecommunications, enterprise and consumer technology solutions for the Mobile Internet, today launched its 5G Core product, Cloud ServCore, which is based on the “Service-Based Architecture” (SBA), fully compliant with the 3GPP R15 standard which was released in September 2017.
ZTE Cloud ServCore consists of 3GPP network function services and common network function services in control plane, meeting the requirements of self-containment, reusability and independent management; and supports service based interface based on HTTP/2+JSON protocols. Distributed media planes support flexible deployment and high-performance forwarding, and interwork with the control plane through Packet Forwarding Control Protocol (PFCP) defined in the standard Control and User Plane Separation (CUPS) architecture.
ZTE Cloud ServCore is based on the micro-service cloud native architecture. It utilizes micro-service components, DevOps tool and containerized deployment to meet requirements of slices and network functions, such as on-demand orchestration, rapid deployment, elasticity and high reliability.
This product uses a fully virtualized architecture decoupled from the underlying cloud platform, adopts decoupling of software and hardware, and supports hardware and software acceleration, to realize a high-performance and low-latency forwarding network, meeting high speed, low latency, high reliability and other 5G scenario requirements.
In the phase 2 5G Core test of IMT-2020 (5G) technology R&D test, ZTE Cloud ServCore’s key technologies, including service-based architecture, network slicing, 5G service process and edge computing, are comprehensively tested and verified. It is highly recognized by experts of IMT-2020 (5G) Promotion Group.
During the joint technology research at China Mobile Research Institute 5G Core Lab, the design and realization of ZTE Cloud ServCore are highly praised by China Mobile, laying a solid foundation for the bilateral collaboration to promote the future development of standards and to conduct 5G Core trials for China Mobile.
As the world's leading provider of integrated communications solutions, ZTE, taking the strategy of "Leading 5G Innovations", is committed to providing customers worldwide with quality services. The debut of 5G Cloud ServCore is a solid step toward the industrialization of 5G Core and a good start for the commercial use of 5G Core. It shows that ZTE is taking the lead in opening up the prelude of 5G commercialization.
