ZTE Achieved Breakthrough in 400Gb &1Tb Optical Transmission During Field Trial in Western Europe
25 June 2012, Shenzhen –– ZTE recently partnered with the operator of the largest optical transport infrastructure in Europe on a field trial for optical transmission with data rates of 100Gb/s, 400Gb/s and 1Tb/s. A joint team of engineers from both sides completed the field test on a trial network comprising eight cities in Germany, including Darmstadt, Stuttgart and Nurnberg. The equipment used during the trial was based on advanced technologies such as coherent detection, QPSK/16QAM modulation and innovative digital signal processing.
Experiments conducted during the trial were designed to address important issues that concern operators and vendors around network evolution towards and beyond 100Gb. Using ZTE’s 100Gb OTN products (ZXONE 8000 series), 400Gb prototype and 1Tb prototype, the team succeeded in simultaneous transmission on 100Gb/s, 400Gb/s and 1Tb/s WDM channels over 2150 km, passing 26 spans with gain flattening erbium doped fiber amplifiers (EDFAs). The team also achieved 2450 km of successful transmission on two simultaneous 100Gb/s channels with a large performance margin.

The 400G/1T DWDM prototype provides equal high bandwidth efficiency that works with a comprehensive range of network applications. It has a multi-subcarrier orthogonal frequency division multiplexing 400G/1T solution for ultra-long-haul applications. It also is a 16 quadrature amplitude modulation solution for metro and local applications with an industry highest bandwidth utilization rate. Further, it is a Nyquist WDM solution for long-haul applications.
ZTE Launches Industry’s First LTE BeamHop AAS Solution
20 June 2012, Shanghai –– Today at Mobile Asia Expo, ZTE launched the industry’s first LTE BeamHop Solution and demonstrated the LTE A8808 active antenna system (AAS) product based on this technology. The product is a major breakthrough particularly for the high-end European and U.S. wireless markets, giving operators the ability to quickly and easily benefit from LTE by leveraging their existing 2G and 3G base stations.
Based on the LTE BeamHop Solution, the A8808 product consists of both active and passive antennae. The passive part replaces operators’ existing 2G and 3G antennae, while the active part is used for the newly added LTE network. Since the LTE radio unit is integrated into the existing antenna, the new LTE network can be deployed without purchasing any additional antenna site space, reducing installation costs and maximizing existing resources. This product is especially beneficial to operators competing in developed markets where the cost of renting antenna site space is high.
