China Mobile Zhejiang and ZTE unveil AI O&M robot ChatZ, pioneering a new era of intelligent OTN network management

Shenzhen, China, 27 February 2025 – ZTE Corporation (0763.HK / 000063.SZ), a global leading provider of integrated information and communication technology solutions, and China Mobile Zhejiang have successfully verified the AI O&M robot ChatZ in the OTN field. This innovation significantly reduces the O&M complexity of the OTN network and increases O&M efficiency by more than tenfold.

 

Traditional OTN network management primarily relies on a graphical user interface for point-and-click operations. During complex maintenance procedures, it is necessary to frequently switch between multiple interfaces, which results in low efficiency and a high chance of errors. Taking China Mobile Zhejiang as an example, each month, resource verification tasks in various cities require thousands of operations, with each query involving over 10 clicks and averaging 2 minutes per operation. The fault resolution process is intricate, consisting of steps like manual fault cause analysis, diagnostic plan creation, and implementation, with each diagnosis taking more than 15 minutes on average. As a result, the time required to resolve faults is long. Furthermore, the OTN network requires complex technical knowledge, so maintenance personnel must possess strong professional knowledge and rich experience.

 

To address these pain points, China Mobile Zhejiang and ZTE actively explored new network O&M modes, introduced AI technologies such as Intent Network, and successfully verified the AI O&M robot ChatZ in the existing network. The ChatZ provides a dialog-based interaction interface. The O&M personnel only need to enter the O&M requirements. The ChatZ can accurately match them and quickly obtain information from the management and control platform, without manually switching menus. This greatly simplifies the operation procedure and improves work efficiency.

 

Compared with traditional methods, the ChatZ shortens the resource query time from two minutes to 15 seconds, the fault location time from 15 minutes to 1 minute, and the troubleshooting period from 10 minutes to 1 minute. It cuts the cost of learning the complicated functions of traditional NM interfaces, greatly promoting network O&M efficiency.
