ZTE releases fiber fingerprint solution to build digital and intelligent ODNs

Barcelona, Spain, 7 March 2024 - ZTE Corporation (0763.HK / 000063.SZ), a global leading provider of information and communication technology solutions, launched the fiber fingerprint solution at MWC Barcelona 2024, to assist operators in constructing digital and intelligent Optical Distribution Networks (ODNs) characterized by visuality, manageability, and ease of operation and maintenance.

ZTE's fiber fingerprint solution leverages an innovative optical-parameter deep-dimension algorithm and in-house intelligent fiber fingerprint splitters to accurately display two-level splitting of Passive Optical Network (PON) ports. This enables accurate presentation of the optical network topology, facilitating automatic topology visualization and data-driven resource management. The solution incorporates a multi-functional detection unit equipped a high-sensitivity receiver to capture scattered and reflected signals from different branch links, allowing the unit to identify link events with high precision, detect and locate trunk and branch link faults, and proactively predict link quality.

In addition, the solution employs a comprehensive intelligent algorithm for AI analysis,  enabling the restoration of network topology and precise identification of Optical Network Unit (ONU) connections, thus achieving PON resource visualization and smart Operation and Maintenance (O&M). The fiber fingerprint splitters, utilizing passive technology to implement optical network fingerprint identification and modulate signal parameters. Notably, the zero insertion loss incurred by the optical network fingerprint identification technology ensures that it has no adverse impact on services.
