24 March 2017, CeBIT, Germany – ZTE Corporation (0763.HK / 000063.SZ), a major international provider of telecommunications, enterprise and consumer technology solutions for the Mobile Internet, announced the launch of its uSmartDC cloud data centre solution at CeBIT 2017 held in Hanover, Germany. As the world’s largest trade fair for IT, communication and software, CeBIT attracted more than 3,300 companies from 70 countries and regions. ZTE garnered significant interest due to its comprehensive solutions based on years of project experience and best practices.
Based on an OpenStack architecture, the uSmartDC cloud data centre solution is optimised to provide enterprise-grade high service availability, performance, elasticity and resource efficiency by integrating isolated resources from the data centre such as servers, storage devices, and network elements. The uSmartDC is also a flexible, efficient and secure end-to-end (E2E) data centre solution which offers virtualised, shared and unified resource management to help users run self-operated or lessee-operated businesses quickly.
“ZTE is taking an active role in the development of technical rules for open source communities. Its uSmartDC cloud platform solution has passed the official certification of the OpenStack Foundation, leaping to the world’s 14th place in terms of code submission times in the latest Newton release of OpenStack. Our solution has an increasing influence on open source communities such as Ceph, OVS, OpenNFV, Docker and Kubernetes, and has become a major contributor in these communities,” said Mr. Lu Ping, VP of ZTE Corporation.
The uSmartDC solution supports unified management of multiple data centres in public cloud, private cloud and hybrid cloud environments with a consistent user experience. It can also manage heterogeneous resource pools including VMware, PowerVM, Docker, and physical machine in a centralised way with significantly-improved efficiency. The solution implements high service elasticity through dynamic scheduling, automatic scalability and allocation-on-demand, and fulfils self-heal service by automatically executing the dispute resolution service (DRS) policy and replacing failed instances, helping enterprises achieve automated operation and maintenance (O&M). Additionally, the uSmartDC solution enables enterprises to set up multiple-active data centres, which can collaborate with high efficiency to avoid capability imbalance. If a data centre encounters a disaster or outage, other data centres will take over its services to ensure excellent service. With infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) and platform-as-a-service (PaaS) capabilities such as automatic deployment, load-balancing, scalability, active/standby server, self-heal service and service monitoring, the uSmartDC cloud data centre solution assists enterprises with creative models and architectures, for example, Internet gray release, for quick pilot service innovation.
As the Internet develops, the cloud-computing industry is becoming a global and subversive technological revolution, and cloud platform construction is in full swing in a variety of industries. With its many years of experience and expertise, ZTE introduced industry solutions such as finance cloud to help enterprises go online, eliminate traditional information islands and achieve data sharing and interconnection according to the characteristics of their industries and applications for the purpose of higher productivity and communication efficiency. The company is also experienced in application migration and has established a complete methodology for migration procedures and tools, useful for fast, smooth business cloudification.
“ZTE released its mobile information, communication and technology (M-ICT) strategy in 2014. Considering the changes in the ICT industry in the past two years, the company issued its M-ICT2.2 strategy in August 2016 to enrich the purpose of the M-ICT strategy. The uSmartDC cloud data centre solution will capitalise on the opportunity of era reconstruction to create value with information and help corporate clients transform and innovate with M-ICT concepts,” Lu Ping added.
ZTE Corporation is committed to the research and development of cloud-computing. Being one of the pioneers in the development of cloud-computing, ZTE has built an architecture that consists of one data centre, two platforms (cloud platform and Big Data platform) and multiple cloud applications. Based on this the company will cooperate with its global partners in the M-ICT era.
