23 June 2017, Shenzhen, China – ZTE Corporation (0763.HK / 000063.SZ), a major international provider of telecommunications, enterprise and consumer technology solutions for the Mobile Internet, today announced its LTE eNodeB portfolio has been named the only “Leader” in the latest report issued by GlobalData (formerly known as Current Analysis) and ZTE’s EPC product has also been rated as “Very Strong” in a separate report.
The report analyses the product competitiveness of the industry's main (LTE) vendors. According to the report, ZTE’s LTE eNodeB portfolio rated higher than other similar industrial products in terms of both cell capacity and user capacity, and also rated highly in terms of radio frequency (RF) performance, site deployment flexibility, and technology evolution.
“The vendor’s existing eNodeBs lead competitors in a number of important areas, including 2G and 3G capacity, breadth of radio unit options and compactness of radio unit form factors. Moreover, ZTE’s base stations nearly surpass all rivals in other areas, such as cell capacity and user support.” the report says. Meanwhile, brand-new baseband units (BBUs) are designed based on virtualization architecture to fully meet future 5G network evolution requirements. With the new BBUs, operators can be prepared for an early network infrastructure modernisation and seize an early advantages before 5G booms globally.
At the same time, the report pointed out that ZTE’s diversified RRU types help operators flexibly select the most suitable scenarios and avoid over-investment when deploying the network. In addition, ZTE's active antenna unit (AAU) products also include TDD and FDD Massive MIMO base stations, further contributing to the overall leading position in the individual rating result. Analysts also revealed that in the actual commercial network before the official launch of 5G, operators face long-term coexistence of multiple technologies, and ZTE’s eNodeB products have demonstrated strong support for backward compatibility with 2G/3G technologies. Horizontal comparison results showed that ZTE’s LTE eNodeB products, with obvious advantages in the support for both 2G and 3G capacity, are better than major same-type products and in a leading position.
Before this report was released, Gartner named ZTE as “Leader” in the 2016 Gartner Magic Quadrant for LTE network infrastructure. As a mainstream equipment vendor in the industry, ZTE, with its LTE / EPC products, consecutively received acclaim from two global top-level consulting institutions, proving that ZTE has become a global leader in the industry with regard to technical ability, innovation, and 5G evolution capability. As an important technology for evolution from 4G to 5G, ZTE’s Pre5G products and solutions have already been successfully put into commercial use in high-end markets such as China Mobile, Japan’s SoftBank and Italy’s WindTre,laying a solid foundation for commercial verification and experience accumulation of 5G key technologies.
