24 February 2016, Shenzhen, China – ZTE Corporation (0763.HK / 000063.SZ), a major international provider of telecommunications, enterprise and consumer technology solutions for the Mobile Internet, today announced that it has won the ‘Outstanding Contribution on Innovative Solution and Application 2015’ award. ZTE accepted the award at the Global TD-LTE Initiative (GTI) award ceremony held in Barcelona. ZTE won the award for its innovative "Comprehensive Uplink Enhancement Solution" as well as outstanding contributions to promoting the development of the time-division long term evolution (TD-LTE) industry.
ZTE has now won the past three consecutive GTI awards, and these accolades fully affirm ZTE's continuous innovation and industry driving force in the field of TD-LTE. Since its inception in 2011, GTI has been committed to the development of the global TD-LTE industry. With more than 122 operators and 103 partner members, GTI is at present the most influential organisation within the TDD industry.
After years of large-scale and rapid deployment, TD-LTE networks have entered a more intensive stage of business development. As a result, insights into user needs and network optimisation techniques have become a key focus for operators. At a time when real-time video calls, video surveillance, Shot and Send, and other uplink services are gaining popularity, demands for uplink resources and bandwidth are also witnessing a sharp increase. However, most commercial TD-LTE networks use a ratio of 1:3 for uplink and downlink time slots with a relatively small amount of uplink resources, resulting in uplink bandwidth gradually becoming the bottleneck of TD-LTE network development.
ZTE’s " Comprehensive Uplink Enhancement Solution" was first implemented on commercial networks in 2015. This solution involves a variety of uplink performance enhancing technologies, such as UL CA, UL CoMP, UL 64QAM, MU-MIMO, and UL 3D MIMO. It not only optimises existing uplink technologies, but also introduces uplink enhancement technology in ZTE's Pre5G solution, aimed at the phased optimisation of uplink resources, and building more balanced and efficient networks to effectively improve the user experience.
As a leading supplier of TD-LTE solutions, ZTE has built TD-LTE trial and commercial networks for 87 mobile operators (involving 58 commercial contracts) in 50 countries worldwide by the end of 2015, serving customers in Japan, the United States, India, Indonesia, China, Malaysia, the Philippines, Romania, Italy, and many other countries worldwide.
