25 Feb 2016, Shenzhen, China – ZTE Corporation (0763.HK / 000063.SZ), a major international provider of telecommunications, enterprise and consumer technology solutions for the Mobile Internet, together with China Mobile Communications Corporation (CMCC), today demonstrated an NFV orchestrator, their latest cooperative achievement in the network functions virtualization/software defined networking (NFV/SDN) field. ZTE, as one of the early supporters of the future OPEN-O open source project, witnessed at MWC 2016, CMCC, Linux foundation and a dozen other partners announce the intent to form the OPEN-O project in the Linux foundation.
Based on SDN/NFV and big data technologies, ZTE developed the network service orchestrator, Elastic Conductor, to address the extensive time to market, service development difficulties and the low efficiency of network resource scheduling faced by operators. Conductor supports unified orchestration and management of ZTE SDN networks, NFV service and vDC (Virtualized Data Centre); service integration development and unified release; entire network resources allocation and elastic extension; real-time monitoring and the dynamic adjustment of network service, automated operation, reduction of operational costs and improvement in the capacity of network service assurance; simulation test and gray release; achieves service visual development and deployment automation; shortens the time to market and improves the capacity of online services.
In order to promote industry development of the service orchestrator and to adhere to open principles, ZTE together with CMCC and other partners, completed development of the open-source NFV orchestrator demonstration prototype. Under the auspices of the CMCC, the prototype successfully docked virtual network elements from multiple vendors, such as ZTE vIMS, RAISECOM nanocellgw, CertusNet vBras, and so completed the multi-vendor NFV service orchestration UseCase.
As a technical innovator, ZTE shares a common understanding and vision with its operator partners for the evolution of SDN/NFV networks. The network service orchestrator is a cloud pipe fusion ElasticNet intelligent control brain with open centre capabilities, which has a very important role in the network architecture. ZTE and CMCC will work cooperatively and in-depth to advance this field together.
