29 June 2016, Shenzhen, China – ZTE Corporation (0763.HK / 000063.SZ), a major international provider of telecommunications, enterprise and consumer technology solutions for the Mobile Internet, today announced, with China Mobile at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2016 Shanghai, the display of its smart well cover solution; a municipal Internet of Things (IoT) application. This solution monitors the status of the well cover, and its alarm reports in real-time if the cover is being moved or opened. Featuring low cost, wide coverage, low power, and wide connection, the narrow-band (NB) IoT technology effectively broadens the coverage of the smart well cover monitoring system, eliminating blind angles, reducing building and maintenance costs.
China Mobile is a major partner of ZTE Corporation. The two companies announced their cooperation on joint 5G innovation during MWC Barcelona, and officially signed a cooperation memorandum in March. Both companies planned to establish a joint 5G innovation centre, focusing on the research and applications of high-end fields (such as 5G, IoT, Internet of Vehicles (IoV), smart manufacture, and virtual reality), in order to promote the maturity of fundamental communication capacity and the development of 5G applications. Today, the two parties have made substantial progress on their cooperation in the IoT and 5G fields. In the future, further technological achievements will promote the rapid development of the industry chain.
ZTE Corporation has always been a major promoter of NB-IoT technology. It forges end-to-end (E2E) solutions based on the NB-IoT for operators and the telecoms industry, and actively ties itself in the research of chips, terminals, systems, and the IoT platform. It also possesses solutions ideally suited for the fields of industrial Internet, IoV, smart home furnishings, and smart city. ZTE will continue to cooperate with operators, and help them to facilitate over one hundred billion connections in the future.
