9 September, Shenzhen, China - ZTE Corporation (0763.HK / 000063.SZ), a major international provider of telecommunications, enterprise and consumer technology solutions for the Mobile Internet, today announced that ZTE’s spectrum expert Mr. Zhou Dong has shared his insights at 3rd ITU Inter-regional Workshop on WRC-19 Preparation as a panelist representing the Asia-Pacific region. This workshop was held at the International Conference Center Geneva in Switzerland, involving over 350 representatives from six regions worldwide. It is the last inter-regional workshop prior to World Radiocommunication Conference 2019.
On behalf of the Asia-Pacific Telecommunity (APT), Zhou Dong participated in the panel discussion session on the high-attitude platform station (HAPS) related issues. He elaborated on the situation of HAPS and analyzed its prospects in the Asia-Pacific region.
As an important development trend of wireless communication, HAPS has been a focus of ITU research teams and regional organizations. It is also one of the key Agenda Items of World Radiocommunication Conference 2019.
During the workshop, Zhou Dong also had in-depth exchanges of insights with major global regulators, industry organizations and operators' representatives on other WRC-19 key topics and potential future agenda items.
In addition, at the last WRC-19 preparatory meeting of the Asia-Pacific Telecommunity held in August, Zhou Dong was appointed as the coordinator of the HAPS topic at World Radiocommunication Conference 2019 representing the Asia-Pacific region.
As a well-known expert in spectrum and radio regulatory field, Zhou Dong has been active at the forefront of spectrum research and industry & standardization activities. He is currently a senior expert in the consultation team for radio frequency planning of Telecommunications Science and Technology Committee in Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China, and vice chairman of the frequency working group of Wireless Communication Technology Committee in China Communications Standards Association.
World Radiocommunication Conference 2019 will be held in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, from October 28 to November 22, 2019. ZTE experts will continue to play important roles and share their insights at that conference.
