Alliance with Atlas Interactive worth 200 million USD
World-class television over IP (TVoIP) and high-speed broadband Internet access will be just some of the services available in India following an agreement reached between ZTE - China磗 largest listed telecommunications manufacturer and leading wireless solutions provider - and Atlas Interactive (India) Private Limited.
The strategic alliance, worth 200 million USD, involves supplying and commissioning a TVoIP network as the foundation for a range of triple play (voice, video and data) services for subscribers. Combined with the Atlas "netTV" technology, it will produce a solution that is able to deliver video on demand, broadcast TV, music, video conferencing, SMS, email, web, intranet access and data at high-speed broadband access speeds. The network will cover over India磗 38 major cities, which expanded the network contracted in the agreement worth 22 million USD(1 billion Rupee) signed between the two companies in August 2004.
"This historic agreement between our two companies will play a pivotal role in the broadband revolution and set a benchmark in Indian telecommunications," said Ms Fang Rong, ZTE Vice President.
"These services will entertain, educate and facilitate communications, through a single, unique and flexible point of entry into homes and businesses. It will create for India a centre of excellence in service delivery to customers that will be the envy of much of the rest of the world and we are very proud to be working with Atlas to achieve it."
