ZTE Releases New RFC for IP Multimedia Session Domains

21 March 2011, Shenzhen – ZTE Corporation (“ZTE”) (H share stock code: 0763.HK / A share stock code: 000063.SZ), a leading global provider of telecommunications equipment and network solutions, today announced it has published an RFC (Request for Comments) standard on IP Multimedia Session (IMS) domains, together with one of the world's famous international vendors. It is also recommended as the Standard Track of the highest level by IETF (Internet Engineering Task Force).

 

Known as RFC6141, the document is a guide for interworking between SIP elements and equipment, and seeks to address issues around core network products such as SIP terminals, the CSCF of each vendors and SIP AS (ex. IMS, AS, and multimedia conferencing AS). The proposed standard in IP multimedia session domain will help in promoting Internet standards and technologies improvement and highlight ZTE's pioneering and leadership role in the fields of industry standards.

 

RFC6141 is also recommended by the IETF, one of the world's most authoritative Internet technology research organizations. Currently, the majority of international internet technical standards are developed by IETF.

 

In recent years, ZTE has actively participated in the internet technology development and standardization work organized by IETF, and achieved a series of success in internet standards-setting area. The core protocol (RFC6043) of ZTE IMS media plane security has passed certification by IETF and is mandatory used in 3GPP TS 33.328. RFC 6043 is adopted by many high-level operators.

 

In the field of standards research, ZTE has taken leadership positions in over 70 international standard organizations, including chairman designation in over 30 standard organizations and more than 80 seats as the appointed standards editor. ZTE has submitted more than 12,000 standard proposals, and applied for over 30,000 patents in China, Europe, the USA, as well as other countries and regions.
