11 May 2011, Shenzhen – ZTE Corporation (“ZTE”) (H share stock code: 0763.HK / A share stock code: 000063.SZ), a publicly-listed global provider of telecommunications equipment and network solutions, today announced that its home gateway products will be widely deployed by Ukrtelcom including broadband and IPTV service.
As the second largest country in the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), Ukraine has a huge demand on broadband services, behind only Russia in the region. According to the “Ukraine - Internet, Broadband & Broadcasting Overview, Statistics & Forecasts” research report conducted by BuddeComm in 2010, broadband penetration in Ukraine will reach 16% by 2013.
As the biggest fixed-line operator in Ukraine, Ukrtelcom offers fixed local, toll and international telephone services which account for more than 80% of the fixed telephone users in the country as well as mobile telephone services. In response to the robust demand for broadband service, Ukrtelcom started its DSLAM construction five years ago and has a total capacity of one million ADSL lines today with FTTx deployment launched from 2009 onwards.
In order to support the ‘Triple-Play’ business strategy by Ukrtelcom, ZTE’s H108L multiple-terminal access home gateway solution supports streaming-oriented customization and optimization. This solution focuses on wireless boosting rates and indoor coverage, offering an advanced user experience for services such as IPTV.
According to ZTE Vice President Xu Ming, household fixed line market will be one of the most important battlegrounds for telecoms operators in the future. ZTE offers a complete end-to-end network solution, covering broadband systems to household terminals, allowing service providers to offer a more fruitful experience to their clients.
As one of the major solutions in the company’s fixed-line product portfolio, ZTE’s fixed-line terminals have been receiving great success around the globe, ranking top 2 in terms of shipment over the past few years. As of April 2011, over 60 million units had been shipped to more than 80 countries around the globe, with customers including top-tier operators such as FT/Orange, Telefonica, KPN, DT, and Etisalat.
