August 2, Richardson, Texas– ZTE USA today announced it will make a $25,000 donation and participate in a ZTE Day of Service at Spofford, a residential home in Kansas City, MO that offers preventative and therapeutic services to children suffering the effects of abuse and neglect.
“We feel privileged to support Spofford and spend the day with the 49 children who call it home,“ said Lixin Cheng, President of North America Region of ZTE Corporation and CEO of ZTE USA. “Our partnership with Spofford is aligned with ZTE’s mission to help people around the world connect with one another in meaningful ways. Kansas City is home to many ZTE USAemployees and their families and friends. We strive to build a strong community that makes children’s well-being a priority.”
ZTE, the world’s fourth largest mobile device manufacturer globally, officially established its U.S. presence in 2005 with the opening of its headquarters in Dallas, TX. In 2009, ZTE USA opened its branch office in Kansas City.
The ZTE Day of Service will begin with a check presentation, followed by a tour of the facility. Kira Montuori, vice president, Community Relations & Development at Spofford will help the ZTE volunteers familiarize themselves with the campus and its programs. The day’s activities will include arts and crafts and outdoor games with the children.

Since 1916, Spofford has provided therapeutic services for young children ages 4 to 12 with emotional and behavioral disturbances attributed to abuse, neglect and childhood mental illness.
