5 March 2015, Shenzhen, China – ZTE Corporation (0763.HK / 000063.SZ), a major international provider of telecommunications, enterprise and consumer technology solutions for the Mobile Internet, has announced that it has collaborated with China Mobile to jointly provide an integrated software defined networking (iSDN) solution to the next-generation Softnet Architecture for Mobile (SAME) at Mobile World Congress 2015 in Barcelona. This solution, which uses a mobile network architecture based on NFV and SDN technologies, will enhance the efficiency and flexibility of mobile networks in the future. Through SDN-based packet gateways, the SAME solution separates the signaling processing module on the control plane from the basic-packet forwarding module and the complex-packet value-added processing module on the user plane, allowing for the centralised deployment of modules on the control plane and distributed deployment of the basic-packet forwarding module on the user plane. Using service chain technology, the solution optimises user plane performance, saves device costs, guarantees a smooth user experience and provides operators and terminal users with efficient, flexible, and reliable networks. In terms of network virtualization and SDN, ZTE provides industry-leading manageable and integrated Cloud UniCore solutions with high cost-efficiency and carrier-class security, covering all network elements in the Packet Switching (PS) domain, IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS), User Data Center (UDC), and Circuit Switching (CS) domain of mobile core networks. By the end of 2014, ZTE had secured nearly 20 proof of concept (POC) commercial projects on virtual core networks in the global market.
