ZTE, China Mobile, Qualcomm and Sky Limit Entertainment kick off 5G-A Multiplayer Free-roam XR Gaming Project at MWC24

• Collaborated with industry partners, ZTE launched the 5G-A multiplayer free-roam XR gaming project to promote vigorous XR industry development

Barcelona, Spain, 28 February 2024 – ZTE Corporation (0763.HK / 000063.SZ), a global leading provider of information and communication technology solutions, held the "5G-Advanced Joint Innovation and New Product Launch Conference" at MWC Barcelona 2024. During the event, ZTE, together with China Mobile, Qualcomm Technologies, and Sky Limit Entertainment Group, jointly kicked off the 5G-A multiplayer free-roam XR gaming project to promote the vigorous development of the XR industry.

Cao Lei, Deputy Director of the Wireless and Terminal Technology Research Institute of China Mobile Research Institute, Tang Xue, Vice President of ZTE Corporation, Li Jing, Vice President of Qualcomm Incorporated, Yang Xiaoshuai, Director of the Industry Alliance Business Unit of the Sky Limit Entertainment, and Lv Xiaozhuo, General Manager of SoReal Sci-Fi Park of the Sky Limit Entertainment, participated in the launch ceremony.

Previously, the four parties completed the verification of multi-user concurrency XR services based on 5G-Advanced (5G-A) technology at the Sky Limit Entertainment's SoReal Sci-Fi Park, Shougang Park, Beijing. In an area of nearly 1,000 square meters, when 12 channels of XR services are connected at the same time, the picture is clear and smooth without lag, and the average air interface delay is less than 10ms, enabling a wireless multi-person XR backpack-free gaming experience in large spaces.

As technology matures and projects scale up, the 5G-A XR industry is about to usher in an explosive period. ZTE will continue to work with industry partners to promote technological innovation and integration development, realizing deep synergy between networks and XR services.
