Shanghai, China - 25 July 2024 - ZTE Corporation (0763.HK / 000063.SZ), a global leading provider of integrated information and communication technology solutions, in partnership with Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. and China Telecom Shanghai Branch, has successfully exhibited free-roam concurrent VR gaming based on ZTE's 5G-A Minimalist Private Network Solution at the Snapdragon Pavilion during ChinaJoy 2024.

Despite the huge number of visitors and the complex network environment at ChinaJoy, this demonstration achieved rapid deployment within one hour. It provided large bandwidth to ensure multi-user VR gaming as smooth as playing at home with a data rate of 80Mbps per user, while maintaining VR high definition at 72 FPS (frames per second). This delivered a clear, seamless, and lag-free immersive interactive experience for gamers.

A significant highlight of this demonstration was ZTE's introduction of the 5G-A Minimalist Private Network. It enables easy deployment by requiring only a 5G-A BBU upgrade to function as the agent for the otherwise necessary core network. This upgrade is accomplished with a BBU built-in board, which also provides service guarantee capability with its computing power. Additionally, the MiCell solution, the industry's first mmWave micro base-station with IF pooling, greatly reduces cost and power consumption. The intelligent beam-forming for user tracking further enhances smooth connectivity, which is crucial for VR players moving around in a large space.

During ChinaJoy 2024, the 5G-A Minimalist Private Network for VR demonstration was deployed within one hour, utilizing 800MHz bandwidth in the mmWave band and 100MHz bandwidth in the 3.3GHz low-frequency band. With 5G-A high and low-frequency NR-DC technology, the 5G-A network can provide a downlink peak rate of up to 8.5Gbps and support concurrent services for more than 100 XR users. Additionally, 5G-A features low latency, meeting the stringent requirements of applications such as XR and intelligent industrial applications.

The concurrent VR gaming demonstration with 5G-A minimalist Private Network, jointly completed by the three parties, helps further promote the development of new applications and scenarios including high-definition live broadcasting, extended reality (XR), ultra-low latency and ultra-high-definition video, as well as industrial applications. Leveraging the latest 5G-A technology, it provides users with more immersive audiovisual experiences.

ZTE's collaboration with China Telecom Shanghai Branch and Qualcomm Technologies in promoting 5G evolution is evident in this latest demonstration, marking a new milestone in technological innovation and service verification. This advancement provides strong support for the global development of 5G-A services and ecosystems.

Moving forward, ZTE aims to collaborate with a broader range of ecosystem partners to drive further innovation, enhance end-to-end connectivity capabilities, and accelerate the growth of 5G-A technology.
