Guangzhou, China, 14 November 2024 – ZTE Corporation (0763.HK / 000063.SZ), a global leading provider of integrated information and communication technology solutions, has been honored with the Annual Project Award, the highest accolade at the Project Level, at the 2024 Project Management Conference organized by PMI (China), the world-leading project management association. This award was given in recognition of ZTE's exceptional performance in the CelcomDigi dual-network integration project in Malaysia, which has driven innovative advancements in Malaysia's communication infrastructure and set a new benchmark in international project management. This accolade follows the project's earlier recognition with the 2024 PMI Malaysia Outstanding Project Award.

The Malaysia CelcomDigi Network Integration Project consolidates the network resources of two major operators to enhance network coverage and download speeds, delivering a superior user experience. As a key strategic partner of Malaysia's largest operator, CelcomDigi, ZTE has been responsible for the modernization and integration of tens of thousands of sites across Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Sabah, and Sarawak since 2023.

 

As the largest and most complex dual-network integration project in Malaysia, it faced significant challenges, including ambitious project objectives, complex technical solutions, and intricate service integration. Efficient coordination between technology and management was crucial for the project's success.

 

To address these challenges, ZTE introduced the "Intelligent, Integrated, and Interconnected" management model. Within this framework, an intelligent delivery system was supported by three major data platforms: the Intelligent Site Activation Platform, the Network Optimization Platform, and the Multi-Dimensional Value Analysis Platform, along with the deployment of eight intelligent efficiency tools across network planning, activation, and maintenance. This integration ensures comprehensive and intelligent management throughout the project delivery process. Additionally, ZTE established a unified business process, regional operation mechanism, and a diversified team management structure with customers and partners through innovative organizational integration, quick stakeholder identification, and efficient resource management. The project team focused on three key services and two core indicators, using a data-driven platform to ensure the interconnection of end-to-end service processes, significantly improving the efficiency and quality of project delivery. As a result, the project team achieved the 2023 annual integration target 50 days ahead of schedule, showcasing ZTE's exceptional project management capabilities and innovative strength.

 

The successful project delivery significantly improved network quality and contributed to local talent development. After the first phase of the project was completed at the end of 2023, network coverage was enhanced by 15%, download rates increased by 25%, network traffic grew by 15%, and the user complaint rate dropped by over 60%. Notably, the project effectively reduced carbon emissions through innovative product solutions and AI-based energy-saving technologies while lowering overall construction and operational costs. Additionally, over 85% of the project team were local employees, with a localization rate of up to 60% in key roles, contributing significantly to developing numerous project management professionals and communication technology experts in Malaysia's telecommunications sector.

 

The project's successful experience has since been replicated in neighboring countries such as Thailand, Indonesia, and Pakistan, enhancing project management capabilities and communication service quality for numerous network delivery projects across the Asia-Pacific region.
