Istanbul, Türkiye, 08 October 2024 - ZTE Corporation (0763.HK / 000063.SZ), a global leading provider of integrated information and communication technology solutions, today announced the successful completion of the world's first live test of 1.2 Tbps single wavelength transmission utilizing 800GE client interface in collaboration with Turkcell on Bursa commercial network. This milestone verifies that OTN equipment is ready for 800GE client interface on live network, which is the industry's largest client interface rate. The success of this test underscores the preeminent position held by both parties in the field of optical network technology, reinforcing the status as industry leaders and laying down the technical foundation for the evolution and advancement of future optical network technologies.

As a pioneer in European optical network construction, Turkcell remains dedicated to advancing network technology to meet the surging demand for network traffic in the digital era. With the booming development of new services such as cloud computing, big data, and AI, Tbit OTN solutions with a significant focus on 1.2T capabilities have emerged as the next-generation mainstream in the optical communication industry.

In this dynamic landscape, Turkcell and ZTE collaborated to test the feasibility of ultra-high-speed OTN transmission with 400GE + 800GE client board and 1.2 Tbps line board in Bursa. The test equipment could provide 2*400GE & 800GE client interface to satisfy more flexible scenarios. Compared with the traditional 400G solutions, the 1.2T solution provides higher bandwidth and transmission rates, significantly enhancing system capacity. This advancement fully meets the urgent bandwidth demand for Turkcell's future 5G service development. Moreover, the solution also supports smooth migration to 1.6 Tbps, ensuring the overall advancement of the network.

ZTE continuously intensifies its research and development efforts on the new-generation Tbit OTN solution and remains dedicated to providing robust technical support for the large-scale commercial deployment of global operators. This initiative aims to significantly boost the development of ultra-wide digital optical networks and proactively foster the prosperity of the industry.

Prof. Dr. Vehbi Çağrı Güngör, Chief Network Technologies Officer of Turkcell, said: “On our 30th anniversary, we proudly and honorably celebrate our leadership in technology as Turkcell. We are committed to meeting the ever-increasing capacity demands with 1.2 Terabit speeds and the use of 800GE + 400GE interfaces together within this huge capacity. From this perspective, we will continue to lead the industry through our technological collaboration with ZTE.”

Peng Aiguang, Senior Vice President of ZTE, Chairman of Netaş, said: "Today, we jointly witnessed the collaboration of industry-leading technology between ZTE and Türkiye's leading operator, Turkcell.
