19 April 2017, Shenzhen, China – ZTE Corporation (0763.HK / 000063.SZ), a major international provider of telecommunications, enterprise and consumer technology solutions for the Mobile Internet, today announced that Mr. Sergio Parolari and Mr. Yang Li from ZTE have become editors for 5G new radio (5G NR) air interface protocols at the 3GPP radio access network (RAN) WGs in Spokane. At this meeting, which marked a step further into 3GPP 5G NR standardisation, Mr. Sergio Parolari was named an editor for TS 37.340 evolved universal terrestrial radio access (E-UTRA) and NR multi-connectivity, and Mr. Yang Li as an editor for TS 38.414 NG-RAN NG data transport, which demonstrated the strength and contribution of ZTE in 5G standards.
Mr. Bai Gang, general manager of ZTE's 5G products, said, "ZTE is honoured to have this opportunity to work on a global universal 5G standard with partners and better serve the M-ICT society."
In addition, Doctor Sun Bo, 5G standard expert, ZTE, was presented with the Outstanding Contribution Award at a recent IEEE 802 local area network/metropolitan area network (LAN/MAN) standards committee meeting, to recognise ZTE’s contributions to 5G standards.
ZTE is a major participant and contributor to global 5G technologies and standards. It is a member of over 40 standards organisations, alliances, and forums, including ITU, 3GPP, IEEE, NGMN, and IMT-2020 (5G) Promotion Group. In February 2017, ZTE became both a member and a board member of the OpenFog Consortium. It is the first Chinese integrated communications solution provider in this organisation. ZTE plans to partner with other board members to promote the technology implementation and industrial development of the OpenFog Consortium in the near future.
