19 September 2016, Shenzhen, China – ZTE Corporation (0763.HK / 000063.SZ), a major international provider of telecommunications, enterprise and consumer technology solutions for the Mobile Internet, today announced the official launch of its new-generation 25G data centre (DC) top of rack (ToR) switch, ZXR10 5960-4M, and also its all-gigabit routing switch series, ZXR10 5950. Developed for the needs of data centre and campus network customers, the two series of switches are applicable to the aggregation layers of data centres and campus networks respectively.
ZXR10 5960-4M is a 2U-high switch with four card slots and has rich data centre characteristics and high-performance stacking capability and can be located at the core or aggregation layer of a data centre or campus network. It has a switching capacity of up to 6.4Tbps, a packet forwarding rate of 2976Mpps and can support a maximum of 32*100GE, 64*40GE, 128*25GE or 128*10GE interfaces. Notably, this product has 24 hybrid cards of 25GE/10GE and 100GE, which facilitates flexible deployment of networks and fully meets the high-speed and high-density access requirement of data centres. In addition, ZXR10 5960-4M can work together with the ZXR10 9900 series DC core switch to build various high-quality cloud DC networks, such as fabric software defined networking (SDN), overlay SDN and network functions virtualisation infrastructure (NFVI), which are applicable to different application scenarios including public cloud, private cloud and hybrid cloud.
The simultaneously launched ZXR10 5950 switch is a layer (L) 3 all-gigabit cassette routing switch launched for enterprise customers. It has complete L2 switching and L3 routing capability and supports rich security and reliability mechanisms. It can be widely used in various scenarios such as campus network aggregation and access, DC gigabit access and desktop gigabit access to provide reliable high-bandwidth solutions for enterprise customers.
Products from the ZXR10 5950 series can provide 24-port and 48-port all-gigabit RJ45 and 10G small form-factor pluggable (SFP+) fixed interfaces (the 5950-36CM adopts COMBO interfaces, which support flexible configuration of optical interface and electrical interfaces). For uplink ports, it can use fixed 10GE SFP+ interfaces, or flexibly select between 40GE uplink ports and 40GE stacking ports, or use 10GE SFP+ as the uplink ports. The 5950 series also includes two power over Ethernet (POE) switches: 5950-36PM and 5950-60PM, which are used to connect terminal devices that have POE access requirements.
In addition to its support for industry-leading virtual switch clustering (VSC) to simplify network topology and management difficulty by virtualising multiple devices to one cluster system, the ZXR10 5950 also supports unified management on multiple devices to reduce management cost. The high reliability of N+1 backup can prevent the occurrence of stacking system faults so as to reduce the service interruption rate. Moreover, it can bundle the ports of different member devices in a stack into one logical port, and so achieve cross-device link bundling and load balancing among member devices. Currently, ZXR10 5950 supports the maximal stacking bandwidth of 160G. With multiple switch resources integrated and port density expanded, it can meet customers’ requirements for purchase on demand and smooth network capacity expansion, so that it can protect customer investment as much as possible when undergoing network upgrades.
The two series of switches launched by ZTE are designed with high performance in mind, in order to effectively meet the current network requirements of operators and enterprise customers.
