16 November 2016, Shenzhen, China – ZTE Corporation (0763.HK / 000063.SZ), a major international provider of telecommunications, enterprise and consumer technology solutions for the Mobile Internet, made its debut at Smart City Expo World Congress in Barcelona this year. The event stands as the world’s largest exhibition for smart cities, and this year took place between 15-17 November.
As one of the earliest vendors to enter the field of smart cities, ZTE showcased its products & solutions and delivered speeches at the event. In addition, ZTE invited experts, specialists and customers to share their opinions and experiences on the opportunities and challenges under the theme of "Smart City, Wonderful World".
ZTE’s booth focused on three concepts:
With emphasis on ZTE’s UOC solution and smart Shenyang platform, ZTE showcased its achievements in big data mining and applications at its booth. In terms of smart blocks, ZTE’s smart street lamp solution turns street lamps into charging stations, Wi-Fi hotspots, environment detection platforms, security surveillance cameras, and information and advertising platforms. In the case of smart parking, ZTE’s "IoT + cloud platform" technologies use an application to check on the status of parking space occupancy, search for vacancies, navigate, and even pay for parking. While for smart living, its latest technologies and solutions included the smart household, smart health care, smart education and smart power.
Mr. Wu Dongsheng, VP of ZTE, delivered a speech at the central forum of the expo. Mr. Wu shared with the audience the practice and implementation use cases of key technical architecture and business model innovations of ZTE in the field of smart cities. Mr. Wu also discussed solutions aimed at government governance and service, industry transformation and upgrading, low carbon emission and environmental protection issues.
ZTE's "Unified Smart Shenyang Platform” project won the favour of the judging panel at the congress, and was nominated for numerous awards at the exhibition. The smart Shenyang project has set up an architecture where the unified platform stands at the foundation, with industries and regional application systems accessing the unified data sharing and open platform step by step, so that urban data is collected comprehensively to serve the public and create value, thus achieving the objectives of “for the people, for the industry, and for the government”.
While participating in the congress, ZTE also strengthened its communications and cooperation with its partners in the ecosystem. On November 16, Smart Cities Council (SCC of the US) signed a cooperation agreement with ZTE, marking ZTE’s formal admission into the SCC, paving the way for ZTE’s cooperation with renowned enterprises and research institutes around the world in the smart city, and other fields.
