16 November 2016, Shenzhen, China – ZTE Corporation (0763.HK / 000063.SZ), a major international provider of telecommunications, enterprise and consumer technology solutions for the Mobile Internet, today announced the launch of its smart street solution to solve common street problems including smart parking, smart street lamps and vehicle flow detection, which are all becoming increasingly important and difficult to balance in urban environments.
ZTE’s smart parking is based on an IoT + cloud platform. Sensors are installed in parking spaces and detect whether they are occupied. The parking data is sent to a management system in the cloud platform. By using an App, drivers can check the availability of each parking space, search for vacant parking spaces, navigate to destinations and even pay parking fees. Reports can be generated from the parking data and analysed for the implementation of a parking plan. In addition, sensors can be installed in areas where parking is not allowed, enabling a notification of illegal parking to be sent to management staff.
Smart street lamps are a new type of energy-saving street light where illuminations can be automatically adjusted as the environment changes. They also act as charging stations, WiFi hotspots, environment detection platforms, security surveillance cameras, and/or information and advertisement platforms. The flexible configuration of various modules allows smart street lamps to charge electric vehicles, provide WiFi coverage, collect various pieces of environmental data, monitor road status and publish city information and advertisements.
Vehicle flow detection can be used to ascertain the number of vehicles and analyse vehicle types, road congestion times and average vehicle speed. Vehicle data is collected and then converted into reports that can provide a reasonable basis and guidance for traffic planning.
Smart city solutions improve the urban experience for citizens and smart street solutions help deliver a more intelligent city. ZTE is committed to exploring and developing smart cities. As part of the smart city, smart street aims to bring improvement to urban development and to people's daily lives. In addition to its deployment in many cities in China, the smart street solution has also made a breakthrough to becoming applied in other countries, for example, trial sites are already deployed in France, Hungary and Romania.
