11 April 2016, Shenzhen, China – ZTE Corporation (0763.HK / 000063.SZ), a major international provider of telecommunications, enterprise and consumer technology solutions for the Mobile Internet, today announced that its new-generation, super-large-capacity packet optical transport network (OTN) equipment, ZXONE 9700, received a positive response from Current Analysis, a leading global telecommunications, software and IT service consulting company. The ZXONE 9700 was rated as a ‘leader’ in the metro packet-optical platform product class. Additionally, according to the latest global optical networking market share report issued by OVUM, thanks to the excellent performance of the ZXONE 9700 series products, ZTE wavelength-division multiplexing (WDM) products experienced major market share growth in Q4 2015 and ZTE has become the third largest WDM product supplier in the world.
The ZXONE 9700 series products adopt a number of subrack designs with different sizes and different cross-connect capacities, so they can satisfy the requirements of all application scenarios from the edge aggregation layer to the core backbone layer. The ZXONE 9700 S6 subrack has an industry-leading 72 service slots; each service slot has a backplane bandwidth of up to 400G, which can help to achieve the smooth upgrade from 100G OTN to 400G OTN. Meanwhile, the electrical cross-connect capacity of up to 28.8T enables operators’ core sites to perform mass data grooming and switching with ease. The ZXONE 9700 series products adopt industry-leading universal cell switching, which can implement unified cross-connect grooming of optical channel data unit-k (ODUK), packet file (Fidonet) and virtual circuit (VC) to meet the multi-service unified bearing requirement.
In terms of beyond 100G transmission technology such as 400G/1T, ZTE has been consistently creating new world records. In January 2016, ZTE in cooperation with Australian tier one operator, TMA, successfully completed the hybrid test of 10G/100G/400G over the existing network, indicating that 400G OTN is ready to be put into commercial operation. In November 2014, ZTE announced a world record of using only erbium-doped fibre amplifier (EDFA) to transmit 16×1Tbps signals for 3500km in full configuration of all C bands. In March 2014, ZTE successfully achieved long-distance transmission for 3600km on single-mode fibres using its patent technology, creating another world record in the 400G high-speed transmission field.
So far, ZTE has had more than 200 commercial projects of 100G OTN and its total line length is over 200,000km. ZTE’s products have been widely used by tier one operators from Asia-Pacific, Europe and Latin America. In China, ZTE has built numerous networks for China Mobile, China Telecom and China Unicom as well as some enterprise and government networks. For example, ZTE built the west ring of the national backbone network of China Mobile. In 2015, ZTE won nearly 40 percent market share in each of the centralised purchases by China Telecom and China Unicom for national backbone networks. Also, ZTE 100G OTN products are widely used in the operators’ branches in different provinces, including the provincial backbone network of the China Mobile’s Zhejiang Branch, the provincial backbone network of the China Telecom Hubei Branch and the provincial backbone network of the China Unicom Henan Branch, essentially covering all provinces of China. ZTE 100G OTN has also gained notable achievements in its overseas market helping customers build 100G OTN networks in Indonesia, Singapore, India, Vietnam, Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, Colombia, Peru, the UK and Austria, and providing super-large-bandwidth transport platforms and super-high-speed OTN network solutions.
