3G World Congress 2003,which is to be held from 3rd -7th November in Bangkok, will be a pageant of mobile communication industry. It has been organized by the Institute for International Research (IIR Ltd.) and assisted by the CDG group and the UMTS Forum. More than 1,400 leading professionals and executives will attend the congress. During the 5-day convention, more than 100 experts from 3G industry and 15 international operators will deliver speeches on 3G technology development, services, market applications, business modes, and network planning and optimization. The telecom giants, such as Qualcomm, Nokia, Lucent, Nortel, Alcatel, Siemens, Ericsson, NEC, KDDI and SK Telecom, will all attend the congress. Following the last 3G congress in Hong Kong, ZTE will be present at the congress in the capacity of a senior sponsor. As China´s leading manufacturer in the CDMA industry, ZTE will deliver subject lectures in respect of the following aspects: 1) CDMA 3G mobile network planning and optimization2) the development and implementation policy of 3G mobile data / multimedia services3) the tools and technologies to shorten the period before 3G’s commercial use4) the evaluation, design and implementation of 3G operators’ public WLAN / Wi-Fi technology5) the development of future 3G services based on the integration of location technology and multimedia information. In addition, ZTE will comprehensively present its CDMA 3G research results and its ideas for future 3G network construction. And, during the lectures, ZTE will demonstrate its independently developed PTT trunking voice services based on CDMA technology, to show that ZTE has strong capabilities in 3G commercial applications. ZTE started CDMA research in 1995, and now ZTE´s CDMA technology has been put into large-scale commercial application by China Unicom. Currently, there are more than 9 million subscriber lines running over ZTE CDMA equipment in the networks of more than 20 countries and regions, including China, Russia, Brazil, Pakistan, India, Algeria, Nigeria, Kuwait and Indonesia. UMTS is another important 3G technology in which ZTE has invested heavily and made great progress. As a pioneer in China, ZTE started UMTS research in 1998, keeping pace with the latest developments in UMTS technology; and the company joined in CWTS and 3GPP organizations in 1999.
