'Fixed Network 3G' scoops prestigious Chinese information industry award
ZTE Corporation, a leading global provider of telecommunications equipment and network solutions, has won the Chinese National Science and Technology Progress Awards (NSTPA) category of Core Technology Invention 2006 for its Fixed Network 3G technologies. ZTE is the only corporation to achieve this level of recognition twice in the new millennium.
"Like the development of the mobile network, the fixed-line network has experienced the first generation of analog switching, the second generation of digital SPC (Stored Program Control) switching and has now started to enter the third generation featuring soft-switch technology applications, or fixed network 3G," explained Mr Huang Dabin, ZTE's Deputy general manager from network devision. "Fixed network 3G has been designed by ZTE to enable traditional fixed network operators' to evolve their networks to compete in the highly competitive era of converged digital communications."
ZTE's fixed network 3G solution includes its Fixed-line Intelligent and Fixed Network 3G Access solutions and supports the maintenance and evolution of operators' existing PSTN network resources and the deployment of multi-play services. Through the integration of network control and service provision, ZTE's fixed network 3G solution enables fixed-line operators to offer a variety of services to a diverse range of customers.
To date, ZTE's fixed network 3G solution has been deployed in markets including Russia, Pakistan and Colombia, enabling 120 million people around the world to access next generation networks.
The NSTPA Awards are made each year by the Chinese Ministry of Science and Technology.
