Two new base transceiver stations allow operators to build advanced, low-cost CDMA2000 networks
Hong Kong, 28 November, 2006 - ZTE, a leading global provider of telecommunications equipment and network solutions, is rolling out two new types of 3G CDMA2000 BTS (base station transceivers) at ITU Telecom World 2006. The ZXCBTS is a micro-BTS supporting EV-DO Rev.A and the ZXC10-CBTS is an easily integrated compact BTS.
ZTE ZXCBTS will help satisfy the multiple needs of EV-DO Rev.A network operators. The design of the EV-DO micro-BTS is based on ZTE’s CDMA2000 1X micro-BTS that was put into commercial use in 2001. So far more than 15,000 CDMA2000 1X micro-BTSs supplied by ZTE have been installed in networks worldwide, laying a solid foundation for the mature and stable operation of ZTE's EV-DO micro-BTS products.
The EV-DO micro-BTS provides a high performance/price ratio and supports frequency bands including 800 MHz, 450 MHz, 850 MHz, 1900 MHz and 2100 MHz, as well as power supply voltages including 48 V DC, 220 V AC and 110 V AC. The base station can be used in hot and very cold environments. The EV-DO micro-BTS provides IP55 protection, standard design for dry contact interface and an open transmission path to transfer alarm and monitor information from external systems such as the power supply to the maintenance centre. The flexible configuration allows a single cabinet with a capacity of one carrier-sector to be expanded to three cabinets with a capacity of up to three carrier-sectors. The spacing between cabinets can be kept as required and the connecting fibre can extend up to 40 km.
ZTE can produce up to 2000 EV-DO micro-BTS units per month. The EV-DO micro-BTS has a download rate of 3.1 Mbps and a upload rate of 1.8 Mbps, and fully supports 3G services such as broadcast and multicast, mobile TV, video telephony, instant messaging and VoIP.
The ZXC10-CBTS is only 80 cm long, but provides a maximum capacity of 4 carriers/3 sectors, offering high system integration. The standard 19-inch rack design is capable of fixing directly onto a wall, easing installation and maintenance as well as reducing floor space requirements, thus lowering CAPEX and OPEX.
A single RF module of the CBTS supports 4-carrier technology. Both 1X and EV-DO networks can use the same RF module, with their frequency bands allocated freely. The CBTS supports the super-BTS solution with an ultra-high capacity of 48 carrier-sectors and provides the power amplifier module with high efficiency, reducing power consumption and optimizing coverage.
"The rollout of the two new types of 3G CDMA2000 BTS further consolidates our leading position in the area of CDMA BSS. The two types of BTS product improve ZTE’s middle- and low-capacity CDMA2000 BTS family. The product design matches users’ real needs and meets the requirement for building advanced, low-cost 3G CDMA2000 networks," said Mr. Zhu Jinyun, product general manager of BSS, CDMA Division, ZTE.
Both BTS systems have passed the international certification of the FCC, CE and IC, and are licensed to be sold in the United States, Canada and Europe. To date ZTE has exported over 42,000 CDMA BTS products to the global market.
