23 Aug 2007, Shenzhen, China - ZTE Corporation ("ZTE"), a leading global provider of telecommunications equipment and network solutions, announced that it has recently signed a contract with Tunisie Telecom, the largest telecom operator in Tunisia, to deploy the national transmission network in the country. Under the contract, ZTE will deploy a network to cover nearly two-thirds of the territory, including all developed coastal regions.

Upon completion, the national transmission network will offer good-quality transmission channels for mobile services, ADSL and other services, while establishing a solid foundation for Tunisie Telecom's future development.
Tunisie Telecom is the sole universal telecom operator in Tunisia. In recent years, the operator has been constantly expanding its range of offerings, which now span services for mobile phone, fixed telephone, Internet, videoconferencing, etc. Since early nineties, Tunisia's telephone network has been fully digitized covering the whole nation, making it the best network in the whole Africa and Middle East region. The country currently has 1.3 million fixed telephone users, 7 million mobile phone users and more than 1 million Internet users.
ZTE has extensive business network in Africa, including transmission network projects in Morocco, Algeria as well as the CCK national backbone network in Kenya.
