02 June 2011, Shenzhen – ZTE Corporation (“ZTE”) (H share stock code: 0763.HK / A share stock code: 000063.SZ), a publicly-listed global provider of telecommunications equipment and network solutions, and Hutchison 3G Austria have released independent test results showing the Hutchison 3G LTE/DC-HSPA+ network to be the fastest in Austria, with the widest coverage.
Jan Trionow, the CEO of Hutchison 3G Austria, presented results of network evaluation analyses based on the measurements done with speedtest.net which is a reliable tool to test internet connection speed. These results indicate that the network of Hutchison 3G reach higher throughput figures for download and upload than the competitor networks in Austria. Further there is an increase of the throughput of about 300% after the network modernization.
ZTE’s mobile broadband solution, which brings together the company’s Uni-RAN and Smart Pipe solutions on its SDR mobile communication product platform, has become the core competitive feature of ZTE’s LTE/HSPA+ products. The dual-carrier, HSPA+ network can provide users with speeds of up to 42Mbps, six times more than the previous Hutchison 3G Austria network.
"ZTE has helped provide Austria with a leading, low TCO technology solution, meeting the requirement for simple, scalable upgrades,” said ZTE senior vice president Mr. Zhu Jinyun. “We have assisted Hutchison 3G Austria in launching leading mobile broadband services and improving end users’ lifestyles. ZTE has and will always be committed to contributing customised solutions and efficient delivery to international markets.”
ZTE’s Uni-RAN supports LTE/DC-HSPA+ integrated networking which enables efficient network upgrades and reduces the total cost of ownership. The solution meets users’ increasing requirements for mobile bandwidth and multimedia services.
In addition, ZTE’s Smart Pipe (ZSP) solution includes the ZXUN xGW comprehensive packet data gateway based on ZTE’s T8000 architecture, which has lowered the cost of maintenance and power consumption to one third of previous requirements. The network activation success rate has been enhanced and the data throughput of the entire network has doubled. Consequently, revenues and customer service levels and customer satisfaction have improved.
Hutchison 3G Austria is a wholly owned subsidiary of Hutchison Global Communications. Hutchison Global Communications is a multi-national operator that provides network services to the UK, Italy, Austria, Denmark, Australia, Hong Kong and Indonesia amongst others. As the forerunner of global mobile broadband communications, it was one of the first operators to implement UMTS and LTE networks. ZTE has rolled out Hutchison 3G Austria’s LTE/HSPA+ services and a core network change and upgrade in key cities nationwide and is to head up its managed services for six years. Currently the HSPA+ service covers 73 percent of Austria’s total population. End of September 2011 94% of the population will be covered.
ZTE has rolled out LTE/HSPA networks in Germany and Belgium for KPN, in Hungary and Montenegro for Telenor, in Portugal for Optimus and in Sweden for Hi3G, emphasising a growing demand for ZTE’s GSM/UMTS/LTE solutions in the European market.
