ZTE IPv6 expertise to help users and solution providers trial IPv6 on June 8th 2011
7 June 2011, Shenzhen – ZTE Corporation (“ZTE”) (H share stock code: 0763.HK / A share stock code: 000063.SZ), a publicly-listed global provider of telecommunications equipment and network solutions, today announced that is to make its websites – www.zte.com.cn and http://www.zte.com.cn/en – available via IPv6 for the 24 hours of the first World IPv6 Day, on June 8th 2011.
World IPv6 Day has been established by The Internet Society (ISOC) to encourage the global introduction of IPv6.
As an IPv4/IPv6 equipment and solutions provider, ZTE will join organizations including Google, Yahoo, Facebook, Microsoft, Rackspace and Tsinghua University in making websites available via IPv6 to enable end users to experience IPv6, and to allow service providers to trial IPv6 equipment and solutions.
ZTE established its IPv6 R&D team in 2001 and has been developing IPv6/IPv4 systems and solutions for almost ten years. It was the first Chinese telecoms equipment company to be awarded a Phase I IPv6 Ready certificate.
ZTE has developed its own dual-stack (IPv4/IPv6) operating platform and a complete series of dual-stack datacom products. This company’s end to end IPv6 solution covers terminals, bearer networks and services, enabling operators and service providers to cost-effectively evolve from IPv4 to IPv6.
Over the last two years ZTE has cooperated with major Chinese telecom network operators to deploy IPv6 networks in Shanghai, Nanjing, and Wuxi, enabling operators to analyse and prepare for the commercial use of IPv6. One region of the city of Jiangsu will begin the commercial provision of IPTV over IPv6 by the end of 2011.
At the recent World Expo in Shanghai, ZTE worked with Shanghai Telecom to set up a network of high-performance multi-service IPv6 routers to deliver high quality video and web services across the Expo site.
The Internet Society (ISOC) is a nonprofit organisation founded in 1992 to provide leadership in Internet-related standards, education and policy. It is dedicated to ensuring the open development, evolution and use of the Internet for the benefit of people throughout the world.
