Global Telecoms Business Innovation Award 2011 for Fixed Network Infrastructure Innovation for GPON Platform
07 June 2011, Shenzhen – ZTE Corporation (“ZTE”) (H share stock code: 0763.HK / A share stock code: 000063.SZ), a publicly-listed global provider of telecommunications equipment and network solutions, has won the Global Telecoms Business Innovation Award 2011 for Fixed Network Infrastructure Innovation for its GPON technology which was deployed by Lithuanian leading internet operator TEO LT, AB.
Concerned about its environmental footprint and energy efficiency TEO partnered with ZTE to develop one of the world’s fastest networks while increasing its energy efficiency. TEO deployed ZTE’s ZXA10 C300 OLTs and F610 and F601 ONTs and rolled out a FTTH network based on the GPON technology. TEO has become one of the fastest broadband networks in the world.
TEO is the largest internet provider in Lithuania, which according to the data released by the FTTH Council Europe, is the country which deploys fiber-optic Internet technologies at the fastest rate in Europe. At the end of 2010, fiber-optic Internet access was used by approximately 23 per cent residents of Lithuania. TEO customers can enjoy speeds up to 300 Mbps.
Through its GPON solutions, ZTE’s green innovations offer significantly reduced power consumption levels with reductions of more than 41 percent..
