14 June 2012, Shenzhen, China – ZTE Corporation (“ZTE”) (H share stock code: 0763.HK / A share stock code: 000063.SZ), a leading global provider of telecommunications equipment and network solutions, has been awarded the LTE Infrastructure Innovation and the Fixed Backbone Innovation awards with leading multinational operator T-Mobile Austria and Hi3G Access AB. This is the fourth consecutive year that ZTE has been a winner at the annual GTB Innovation Awards, emphasizing the significance of ZTE’s strategic partnerships.
The award winning projects are the world’s first commercial network TDD/FDD dual-mode LTE network in Sweden for Hi3G and a WASON (WDM Automatic Switch Optical Network) state route commercial network for T-Mobile Austria. Winning awards in both wireline and wireless categories demonstrate ZTE’s strengths across numerous technologies and the company’s comprehensive products in full field communications.
"The most exciting moment for ZTE, is not when the contract is signed, but when we witness a tremendous surge in operator subscribers, revenues and profits,” said Hou Weigui, Chairman of the Board, ZTE Corporation.
Launched in Q4 2011, the LTE network deployed in Sweden by Hi3G is not only Europe's first large-scale commercial TD LTE network, but also the world's first large-scale commercial converged radio network. ZTE's leading multi-mode solutions and flexible customization controls not only enable Hi3G to solve standard 5-band network integration issues, but also reduce power consumption, applies interference suppression, minimizes the construction cycle, and greatly reduces TCO (total cost of ownership ) for customers.
ZTE’s WASON project was another first in Europe. The commercial WDM/OTN network was built to replace and upgrade the existing network for T-Mobile Austria. The WASON solution, based on a wireless mesh network, provides network protection when fibers breakdown, enhancing network reliability, longevity and minimizing OPEX. The network functions seamlessly from end to end and can be scaled to operate at speeds of 100G for low cost network expansion. The advanced technology which includes a combination of ROADM and OTN switch based electrical cross connections, enables flexible multi-service access scheduling and makes full use of fiber resources.
In recent years, ZTE has made rapid progress in Europe and the United States. In 2011, ZTE had revenues increase 38.7 percent in Europe and North America. With its awards, Global Telecoms Business has recognized the company’s rapid growth and significant partnerships in these markets.
The recipients of the Global Telecom Business awards are selected by Global Telecoms Business magazine in recognition of the corporations and innovations that have helped shape the telecoms industry over the last 12 months. In past years, ZTE has won joint GTB Awards with Vodafone, Digicel, CSL, and Lithuania Telecom.
