11 March 2014, Shenzhen, China – ZTE Corporation (“ZTE”) (H share stock code: 0763.HK / A share stock code: 000063.SZ), a publicly-listed global provider of telecommunications equipment, network solutions and mobile devices, has launched the LTE broadband multimedia trunking solution at CeBIT 2014 in Hanover, Germany.

ZTE’s LTE broadband multimedia trunking solution is based on TD-LTE technology. The system can be used across a multitude of sectors, providing the best information and communications technology (ICT) service for customers and meeting the customised requirements of many organisations including transport, public safety and energy.

Currently, conventional narrowband digital trunking systems provide only voice and limited data, and therefore cannot fulfil the demand of data-heavy activities such as the downloading of videos and photographs. ZTE’s LTE broadband multimedia trunking system overcomes these problems by offering a high-speed radio transmission capability of up to 100Mbps in downlink and 50Mbps in uplink, alongside multi-party response and quick access.

In addition, ZTE’s system provides voice calls, short messenger services and voice intercom functions; as well as supporting various high-bandwidth services including multimedia dispatch, wireless HD video transmission, multimedia video conferencing, mobile office, vehicle and personnel positioning. The system’s trunking capacity is not limited, enabling it to meet custom requirements in a wide range of application scenarios. ZTE has also introduced innovations and improvements to the system based on TD-LTE technology. It does this by providing over-the-air encryption, virtual private networking (VPN), bi-directional access authentication, end-to-end encryption and other measures to ensure the security and confidentiality of communication services, successfully meeting the varied requirements of customers.

ZTE has established TD-LTE–based wireless broadband multimedia communication networks in major Chinese cities, providing broadband data and multimedia services to cities including Beijing, Tianjin, Shanghai and Zhengzhou; improving the efficiency, productivity and management capability of the public safety department in all these areas. The network established in Beijing was the first wireless broadband network based on 4G TD-LTE technology and was also the first network piloted for commercial use in the world.

Additionally, ZTE’s LTE broadband multimedia trunking solution is being applied in a number of ways in the energy sector. With its flexible networking, fast deployment, widespread network coverage and safe and reliable performance, the system has supported the establishment of smart grids and digital oilfield network.

For the establishment of intelligent metro system, ZTE has launched its wireless broadband multimedia communication solution for urban rail transit, which supports passenger and train information, the broadcast of news and traffic information, the dispatch of trains and maintenance personnel, video monitoring, unified communication, real-time information acquisition and fast delivery. Trial and commercial pilots based on this system have also been deployed in numerous industries including public safety departments, airports, harbours and enterprises.

With ten years of research and experience in trunking, ZTE provides safe and reliable products on 2G, 3G and 4G networks and is also a leader in TD-LTE trunking technology research. ZTE’s products cover emergency communication vehicles, small-scale enterprise private networks, medium-scale urban broadband multimedia communication networks and large-scale emergency communication networks, which are widely deployed across the world. ZTE’s terminal products including mobile radio, handheld terminals and data transmission modules also support substantial customisation, enabling the system to meet customers’ very specific operational requirements.
