27 February 2015, Shenzhen, China– ZTE Corporation (0763.HK / 000063.SZ), a major international provider of telecommunications, enterprise and consumer technology solutions for the Mobile Internet, has released its innovative solutions that provide intensive coverage with its Pad base station series. With compact sizes and various models, these products allow for flexible deployment, eliminate coverage holes, and handle hotspot services rapidly for network load balancing.
The Pad series base stations use a distributed architecture to provide flexible networking models, meeting multi-point and multi-sector coverage requirements. The Pad baseband unit (BBU) is only one third the size of similar products making it the world's smallest outdoor BBU, and can be installed in a concealed location.
The Pad series also features a newly released remote radio unit (RRU), The Pad RRU is a similar size to a tablet, has built-in antennas, and can be mounted to poles, walls, or other common locations in stations, buildings, and streets, allowing for easy site selection for intensive coverage. With low transmit power and interference, the Pad RRU provides seamless network coverage through macro-micro coordination. Multiple Pad RRUs can be included in a logical cell to reduce handovers and provide better user experience.
Meanwhile, within the intensive coverage solutions, ZTE also launched the smallest integrated micro base station. The base station can be pole- or wall-mounted in a concealed location to save space. With a transmit power of 2 × 5 W, this base station can eliminate coverage holes for accurate coverage and avoid excessive interference with macro coverage, and is therefore the best choice for intensive coverage in urban buildings and streets.
"The rapid development of mobile broadband networks has raised new requirements for wireless network deployment. Coverage quality, system capacity, and service support capabilities are likely to become the limiting factors of network performance and development. ZTE's innovative intensive coverage solutions are dedicated to addressing problems including insufficient space, equipment rooms and antennas, engineering difficulties, and noise pollution in dense urban areas, buildings, streets, and other locations,” said Mr. Zhang Jianguo, Vice President of ZTE.
Boasting flexible deployment, accurate coverage, coverage-hole elimination, hotspot service handling, and service expansion, ZTE's innovative solutions and products for intensive coverage constitute macro-micro networks together with macro base stations to improve network quality and provide better user experience.
