Zong and ZTE launch Pakistan's first unique 12T12R dual band UBR site solution

• Zong and ZTE have launched Pakistan's first Omni 12T12R UBR Site, supporting 1.8 GHz and 2.1 GHz dual band, as well as 2G/3G/4G
• This innovative solution reduces RRU numbers and tower costs, enhancing overall network efficiency

Islamabad, Pakistan, 13 November 2024 - Zong, Pakistan's No.1 data network, and ZTE Corporation (0763.HK / 000063.SZ), a global leading provider of integrated information and communication technology solutions, have announced the commercial launch of their industry-unique innovation solution, establishing Zong as the first operator in Pakistan to offer this technology.        

The innovative solution is named the Omni 12T12R UBR Site, featuring the industry-unique Omni 12T12R UBR provided by ZTE. This system supports 1.8 GHz and 2.1 GHz dual bands and can flexibly launch either one 4T3S site (3 sectors with 4T4R per sector) or one 2T6S site (6 sectors with 2T2R per sector), accommodating 2G, 3G, and 4G technologies while being ready for the evolution in future.

Compared with the traditional 4T4R UBR, the Omni 12T12R UBR site reduces the number of RRUs by 67%, resulting in a corresponding 67% decrease in tower rent fees for RRUs and a 26% reduction in RRU weight. This significantly conserves both tower space and rental costs. Additionally, data traffic has increased by 17%, and average downlink user throughput by 29%.
