Jakarta, Indonesia, 9 September 2024 - ZTE Corporation (0763.HK / 000063.SZ), a global leading provider of integrated information and communication technology solutions, together with Smartfren, a leading telecommunications and ICT player in Indonesia, has successfully implemented a commercial deployment of Native-AI-based RAN Computing, achieving a 15% improvement in user experience and a 5% increase in network traffic.

With the rapid development of service applications, mobile networks face challenges that go beyond simply handling massive connections. Delivering differentiated user experiences, such as high throughput for HD video and low latency for online gaming, requires a network strategy that is aware of specific service applications. This drives the accelerated integration of artificial intelligence into RAN system.

ZTE RAN Computing, based on Native AI, integrates communication and computing directly inside the base station, unleashing the full potential of the network infrastructure. Positioned as the network element closest to users, ZTE RAN Computing achieves unparalleled efficiency by precisely allocating radio resources according to service requirements and terminal capabilities, ensuring an optimal user experience for diverse applications.

"This successful deployment of RAN Computing (IT RAN) marks a significant milestone in the integration of AI into mobile networks. Introducing IT RAN into Mobile Network Infrastructure will create new opportunity to improve efficiency in data yield. This also creates opportunity in improving user loyalty with an optimal user experience, and stimulating traffic increase," stated Shurish Subbramaniam, CTIO of Smartfren. "In the 5G era, ZTE RAN Computing will further play a key role in improving the Total Cost Of Ownership (TCO)", he added.

Richard Liang, President Director of ZTE Indonesia, said: "Through collaboration with Smartfren, ZTE continues to drive innovations in the wireless network, transforming these innovations into compelling solutions for Smartfren's digital transformation journey."

Moving forward, ZTE will continue to collaborate with Smartfren on innovation and digital transformation. Through this strategic alliance, ZTE and Smartfren will revolutionize the digital landscape and contribute to advancing digital life and the broader digital economy.
