Beijing, China, 12 September 2024 - ZTE Corporation (0763.HK / 000063.SZ), a global leading provider of integrated information and communication technology solutions, participated in the 8th Conference of Chinese and African Entrepreneurs during the 2024 Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC). Jointly organized by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade and the Ministry of Commerce, the conference represents the highest-level economic and trade event for the Chinese and African business communities under the FOCAC framework. It has brought together around 1,000 participants, including African leaders, representatives of Chinese and African entrepreneurs, and delegates from relevant international organizations and institutions, discussed cooperation and envisioned the future.  

Li Zixue, Chairman of ZTE, delivered a keynote speech at the event titled "Driving the Integration of Urban-Rural Development and Emerging Industries in Africa through a Four-Pronged Approach", introducing ZTE's ongoing efforts and future cooperation strategies to promote Africa's digital transformation and industrial modernization.

In his speech, Li Zixue emphasized ZTE's long-standing commitment to advancing telecommunications technology revolution and building digital infrastructure in Africa since entering the market in 1997. ZTE has witnessed and participated in the iterative evolution of African communication technology from 2G to 5G, helping to build a network that covers 400 million users across Africa. He underscored that with the acceleration of urbanization in Africa, ZTE will provide a solid digital foundation for the integrated development of urban and rural areas and the growth of emerging industries across the continent through four dimensions: "Networking, Digitalization, Intelligence, and Low Carbon Development".

In terms of digital inclusion, Li Zixue mentioned that through innovative coverage solutions for rural and remote areas, ZTE has conducted large-scale pilots in several African countries, including Ethiopia, Liberia, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo, effectively narrowing the digital divide between urban and rural areas. Additionally, the company is committed to accelerating Africa's industrial modernization by promoting local manufacturing and skill transfer for ZTE terminals and even system products, which will drive local employment and foster the cultivation of high-tech talents.

During the speech, Li Zixue particularly showcased ZTE's innovative terminal product, the world's first 5G+AI eyewear-free 3D tablet, nubia Pad 3D II, expressing his expectation for this product to bear the mark of "Made in Africa" from production lines across the continent.

During FOCAC, Li Zixue, along with Zhao Peng, Senior Vice President of ZTE, held a separate meeting with Egypt's Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly. Li Zixue introduced the company's development history in Egypt, expressed the company's desire to deepen its engagement in the Egyptian market, particularly by promoting terminal products to support the country's digital transformation. The prime minister highly praised ZTE's contributions to Egypt and expressed keen interest in the early implementation of ZTE's local manufacturing operations. The meeting concluded with a signing ceremony between ZTE and Egyptian enterprises, attended by both the Egypt's Prime Minister and the Egyptian Ministry of Communications and Information Technology.

In addition, Zhao Peng met with Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa at the Norkin Hotel and attended the "High-level Roundtable for Chinese-funded Enterprises", where he also met with South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, further strengthening ZTE's cooperation with African countries.
