Kampala, Uganda, 12 September 2024 - ZTE Corporation, a global leading provider of integrated information and communication technology solutions, has once again played a pivotal role in MTN Uganda's exceptional performance, helping the telecom giant secure the highest Net Promoter Score (NPS) for Q2 2024, according to IPSOS, an independent third-party testing organization. This achievement marks MTN Uganda's position as the leading telecom services provider for 14 consecutive quarters.

MTN Uganda, the largest telecommunications operator in the country, has long been dedicated to the development of local information and communication infrastructure. ZTE has been MTN Uganda's longstanding strategic partner providing advanced wireless equipment and comprehensive network operation and maintenance services in Uganda.

In her comments about the ZTE and MTN Uganda partnership, Sylvia Mulinge, Chief Executive Officer of MTN Uganda, said: "We are committed to providing leading digital solutions for the socio-economic progress of Uganda. Our cooperation with ZTE has yielded remarkable results through the introduction of new technologies and the improvement of network performance, enabling more people to enjoy the benefits of a modern connected life."

In recent years, MTN Uganda has seen rapid growth in both mobile subscribers and data service users. To improve the network experience for over 20 million mobile users, MTN Uganda and ZTE have completed LTE bandwidth expansion and international exit VLAN expansion. This has resulted in an 8.5% increase in LTE traffic and a 63% improvement in LTE downlink speed, significantly enhancing network capacity and performance.

To further improve network quality, MTN Uganda and ZTE have implemented measures such as 2G/3G/4G frequency refarming (repurposing a frequency that was initially allocated to one technology for another one), optimizing coverage in key areas like highways, and deploying advanced features like 4G 4T4R and 2G/3G dynamic spectrum sharing.

ZTE and MTN Uganda have also used big data and intelligent network optimization tools to analyze and improve services. For instance, network latency for a popular video app decreased by 50%, download speed increased by 7%, and buffering time decreased by 10%.

Moving forward, MTN Uganda and ZTE will continue to deepen their cooperation, to jointly promote the development of Uganda's digital economy.
