ZTE to Install First Polyphonic Ringtone Gateway for China Telecom
ZTE Corporation announced on 16 August 2005 that it has secured the tender for China Telecom´s prestigious polyphonic ringtone gateway project. The ZTE polyphonic ringtone gateway will enable China Telecom to optimise and improve the management of its ringtone services. This will be the first polyphonic ringtone gateway installed for China Telecom, the country´s largest fixed line operator.
The ZTE gateway, based on its polyphonic ringtone system, MyRing, features a package of ringtone upload and management interfaces that enable ringtone providers to easily and cost effectively manage and maintain their services. For end-users, the MyRing system allows them to customise their ringback tone and enables personalised music or other recordings to be played to different callers. Subscribers can build up a personal ringtone library, which can be managed through text-messages, the web, or a customer service centre.
"In markets around the world, polyphonic ringtones are continuing to prove their attractiveness to both subscribers who want to personalise their experience and service providers who are looking to differentiate their offering," said Ms Chen Jie, VP at ZTE. "The polyphonic ringtone gateway plays a pivotal role connecting the whole value chain behind these ringtone services, with the operator at its core. We are delighted that China Telecom has chosen ZTE, with its proven experience and technology, to help power its polyphonic ringtone services."
As China´s largest listed telecommunications manufacturer and leading wireless solutions´ provider, ZTE´s polyphonic ringtone system has now attracted more than 50 million subscribers worldwide, furthering the Corporation´s claim to be the leading provider of value added services.
Other value-added services from ZTE include intelligent networks, SMS, 3G services, and comprehensive service management platforms. ZTE has led the way with a number of innovations and milestones, including the world´s largest GSM SMS centre, Asia´s largest SMS gateway, China´s largest CDMA SMS centre, China´s largest ringtone centre; China´s largest local fixed network SMS platform, and the first NGN-based calling centre.
