The biggest R&D center in Shanghai will enhance ZTE´s competitiveness in the international market
Shanghai, November 25,2003 – ZTE Corporation officially opened its R&D Center at Zhangjiang High-tech Park, Shanghai. The Center will engage in the R&D of UMTS, GSM and PCS system products and handsets with independent intellectual property rights, at the same time, track the progress of cutting-edge mobile and wireless communication technologies throughout the world.The total area of the R&D Center will be approximately 125,000 m2, designed to accommodate 5,000 R&D staff. The Phase I construction, with a gross floor area of 53,000 m2, has been completed and can accommodate 3,000 staff. This is the biggest high-tech enterprise R&D center in Shanghai, and has been listed as one of the key construction projects of the Shanghai Municipality in 2003. ZTE´s Mobile Division and Handset Division will soon move into the Center “ZTE´s choice of Shanghai to base its R&D center will increase the talent pool and be conducive to the development of Shanghai Municipality,“ said Mr. Jiang Sixian, vice mayor of the Municipality, “and the Municipal Government will spare no efforts to support ZTE´s business development.“ In addition, Vice Mayor Jiang looked forward to ZTE implementing its global strategy to develop into a world-class telecom equipment manufacturer.“Shanghai is the region with the most competitive edge in high technology and investment environment in China.
