  The ITU Telecom World, also known as the Olympics of telecommunications, has convened on October 11 as scheduled in Geneva, Switzerland. At this year’s event, ZTE Corporation, China’s largest listed telecom manufacturer, showcased not only the fruits of its R&D efforts in 3G, NGN and optical area, but also China’s advancement in telecom equipment manufacturing.Different from its presence in 1999, ZTE is no longer part of China Pavilion this year, attending the exhibition as an independent exhibitor.“ZTE has witnessed continuous growth in both home and overseas markets over the past years. Compared with many giant counterparts from US and Europe, we are small but we have continued the rising growth rate albeit the sluggish telecom industry.” said Shi Lirong, Senior Vice-President at ZTE. ZTE has maintained an annual growth rate of approximately 30% in contracted revenue over the past three years and its 2003 half-yearly report reported a 100% year-on-year increase in overseas sales. In the fields such as CDMA and Softswitch, ZTE always prides itself for having the capability to compete with other leading telecom companies: ZTE’s CDMA products have been deployed in 16 countries around the world. Moreover, ZTE is one of the few suppliers anywhere in the world that are able to provide the total NGN solution based on Softswitches. ITU Telecom World offered a platform for ZTE to showcase itself. Considering the things ZTE has put into display: 3G solutions that include CDMA and UMTS, NGN solutions that include Softswtich, optical solutions and ATM and IP solutions. At 3G demonstration area, visitors can experience the on-site demonstration of 3G services such as Netmeeting, VOD, high-speed dial-up and FTP transmission. Globalization is a long-term development strategy of ZTE Corporation. Up to now, ZTE’s telecom products have entered over 40 countries and regions. In order to interact with global customers more effectively, ZTE has invited more than 100 guests from all over the world to attend the Geneva exhibition, most of which are the industry’s top CEOs, government ministers and regulators.
