On May 11, 2004, SVIAZ/EXPO COMM 2004 was convened in Moscow, Russia. It is the fourth time for ZTE to participate in this grand event.At this exhibition, ZTE, China´s biggest listed telecom manufacturer and network solution provider, brings visitors its advanced technologies and customized solutions in NGN, UMTS, CDMA and optical transmission. At the booth, visitors can experience on-site demonstrations such as streaming media on demand, JAVA download, VOD, videophones, multimedia short messages, and other diversified 3G services. ZTE also shows its extensive CDMA solutions such as cdma2000 1x EV/DO, GSM1X and GoTa (Global open Trunking architecture). On the opening day, many senior officials of famous telecom carriers from Russia, Ukraine,White Russia, Tajikistan and other countries visited ZTE´s booth, and they highly praised of ZTE for its advanced technologies and customized solutions. Furthermore, they hoped that they could strengthen the cooperation with ZTE.ZTE also held a press conference on that day and attracted more than 30 Russian newspapers and TV stations. What interested the journalists most is ZTE´s globalization strategies, the progress of ZTE´s R&D, ZTE´s attitude towards 3G. "With the continuous technical advancement and the extensive applications of its various products, ZTE has become a world-class leading telecom equipment vendor. ZTE has attached great importance to the applications and development trends of latest technologies, and is committed to delivering customized services and full package network solutions for the local markets. ZTE is capable of providing worldwide carriers with mature systems for commercial applications, especially those in NGN, UMTS and CDMA areas. Russia´s telecom market implies ample business opportunities, especially in the mobile field. It will be a promising market in the next few years. Therefore, ZTE will strengthen strategic alliances with telecom carriers in Russia, to advance the development of local telecom markets," explained Li Yinong, Regional Manager in charge of ZTE´s CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States) markets.As the trend of future telecoms, 3G and NGN have become the hotspots in the local markets. During the exhibition, ZTE held a technology forum with the theme of "NGN, CDMA2000 and UMTS". ZTE engineers discussed with local carriers and telecom experts on ZTE´s latest telecom operations and value-added network solutions.Russia has been one of the important markets for ZTE. Since 2000, with the overall implementation of its localization strategies, ZTE has established the complete local after-sales maintenance service systems throughout Russia. To date, ZTE has consecutively obtained network access licenses in Russia for its major telecom products such as fixed network, intelligent network, GSM, CDMA and optical transport, paving the way for future market exploration in this region. In addition, ZTE products have been successfully deployed by the major carriers from Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, Kazakstan, Turkmenistan, etc. This exhibition was a good opportunity for ZTE to showcase its overall strengths and to further strengthen its brand recognition in the CIS region.   • In 2000, ZTE entered the CIS telecommunications market. 
  • In 2001, ZTE deployed a fixed network with total solutions in Tver, a town near Moscow, providing voice related services. 
  •  In April 2002, ZTE won a contract to deliver the GSM system to JOSC Babilon in Dushanbe, the capital of Tajikistan.
  • In May 2002, ZTE won a switch project from JSC Tajik Telecom building a transit exchange office in Tajikistan. The office is an important transit point of the national exchange backbone network between the capital Dushanbe and Kurgan-Tube of Hatlon state.
  • In September 2002, a contract for a switching system was signed with OJSC "Kazakh telecom" in Kazakhstan.
  • In March 2003, ZTE signed a contract with SMARTS to supply a new MSC (Mobile Switch Center) and 40 base stations serving 100,000 subscribers, as well as expanding the existing MSC to 60,000 subscribers.
  • In February 2004, KCC´s (Kuzbass Cellular Communication) CDMA450 mobile network provided by ZTE Corporation was put into commercial application.
  • In March 2004, East Telecom, the operator from Uzbekistan, selected ZTE´s full package of proprietary data products to deploy a national IP backbone network, covering more than 13 cities including the capital of Tashkent.
