ZTE Corporation, China´s largest listed telecommunications manufacturer and leading wireless solutions provider, is welcomed to Romania by Mr Zsolt Nagy, the country´s Communications and Information Technologies Minister, when its first pan-European roadshow arrives in Bucharest this week.

Mr Nagy is among the first of many visitors to witness ZTE´s leading telecommunications technology at CERF (Computers and Electronics Romanian Fair), Romania´s largest IT and communications fair.  The 75,000 visitors expected to attend CERF (taking place between 20 and 24 April at the Romexpo) will be able to see first-hand ZTE´s advanced wireless technology and solutions for the 3G era, including the Corporation´s industry-leading UMTS V3 system, next generation networks and a wide range of 3G services.

"ZTE has already undertaken groundbreaking projects in Romania: in 2003 we won a contract to provide the country with the first national softswitch-based commercial network in the world," said Bucharest-based Mr. Li Chuanzhong, GM at ZTE Romania.  "Romania has a dynamic and growing telecommunications market and we look forward to continuing to provide world-class solutions here."

ZTE will be outlining its commitment to Romania, and the whole of Eastern Europe, during a keynote speech at the CERF ´Communication Day´, to be given by Mr Shi Lirong, Senior Vice President at ZTE.

ZTE has been active in Romania since 2001, when it established a sales office in Bucharest.  The Corporation now employs a team of telecommunications professionals who are experienced in a range of areas, from network access solutions to NGNs and 3G mobile networks.

"Our strategy in Europe is totally focussed on localisation: we will work more closely with local partners, recruit more local employees and set up regional centres for maintenance and R&D," said LI Chuanzhong.

ZTE´s roadshow will visit a further eight countries over the next three months, including Hungary, the Czech Republic, Poland, Germany, France, Spain and Portugal.

ZTE has established 15 offices in Europe and has made significant steps into the European market already in 2005:  ZTE has announced that it is to become a global supplier of ADSL equipment to France Telecom and has signed an agreement with Alcatel that will see ZTE´s CDMA radio access portfolio integrated into Alcatel´s CDMA end-to-end solutions; in January, ZTE signed a research and development Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Portugal Telecom and won a contract to supply Skylink, Russia´s largest CDMA operator, with an advanced CDMA network for Murmansk.
