On April 8, Colombian President Alvaro Uribe Velez, with a delegation of over 20 members from his Cabinet and business circles, paid a visit to ZTE Shanghai R&D Center. ZTE Corporation (Shenzhen: 000063 Hong Kong: 0763), China´s largest listed telecommunications manufacturer and leading wireless solutions provider greeted the distinguished guests warmly.

Accompanied by Mr He Shiyou, ZTE´s senior vice president and Mr Zhou Hui, ZTE´s general regional manager of Latin America, the President first gave ears to the introduction of ZTE Corporation attentively, and then was shown around ZTE´s independently-developed chips and wireless solutions, including GSM, CDMA, 2.5G and 3G products, Softswitch system, intelligent system, telecom-grade data solution, optical transmission system and a comprehensive package of terminal products.

During visiting, the President showed great satisfaction with ZTE´s products, and expected that ZTE would establish long-term and deep-rooted partnerships with Colombian operators, thereby enhancing the development of Colombian telecommunications. "Colombia extends warm welcome to Chinese enterprises like ZTE, and the Colombian government is ready to provide any assistance to ZTE´s initiatives in Colombia." remarked the President.
"Empowered by advanced technologies, low cost and tailor-made services, ZTE hopes to make contributions to Colombian telecom constructions, and plans to build a factory in Colombia for prime time," noted Mr He Shiyou, "Like the cooperation with Colombia Telecom, we will target at both equipment marketing and technologies transferring, thereby bringing virtuous development to Colombian telecom market."
