ZTE´s international market is developing rapidly around the world. The company´s market in Asia where ZTE headquarters is based has been prosperously growing ever since they made the first step on this continent in the late 1990s. Name some of them as follows:
Hong Kong - ZTE established its Hong Kong representative office in 2000. Since then, ZTE has established strategic partnerships with local operators and has been providing advanced products and solutions for this market. ZTE has won a series of contracts with Wharf T&T Ltd for Switching, Softswitch, Optical and VDSL networks. ZTE has also become an important supplier of Hutchison Telecom in building a GSM network for its Sri Lanka Subsidiary. ZTE also provides routers, DWDM and SDH for CLPP, Hong Kong´s biggest power company, for its large internal network construction.
Pakistan - To date, ZTE accounts for over 10% of the country´s fixed line market. In addition to large-scale fixed-line wins, ZTE´s wireless products have also found wide-spread application. In early 2001, ZTE signed an agreement with Telecard for a CDMA WLL network construction. After several phases of expansion, the enlarged network will cover most of the country. In December 2004, ZTE constructed the country´s first nationwide next generation network.
India - ZTE Corporation initiated its Indian operations in mid-2001, and won the first contract in India in July 2002 - a turnkey nationwide optical transmission project. Through this project ,ZTE is building up a DWDM backbone network of 40 stations across India, covering major cities like Delhi and Mumbai. In 2003 ZTE signed a contract with BSNL, the biggest state-owned telecom operator in India, to provide nation-wide CDMA WLL equipment and solutions.
Bangladesh - In June 2004, ZTE signed an agreement with Bangladesh Telegraph and Telephone Board (BTTB) for a fixed network project. ZTE is to provide 59 cities and 220 towns with its highly successful ZXJ10 switching equipment. The equipment will enable BTTB to deliver high-quality voice services to its customers across Bangladesh.
Vietnam - In July 2003, ZTE signed a contract with Vietnam operator ETC and expanded the contract in July 2004, supplying 450MHz CDMA WLL equipment for the construction of a telecom network covering Ho Chi Minh and Dong Na province. In January 2004, ZTE won an order for the construction of Vietnam´s railway telecom network - the largest overseas transportation communication project ever undertaken by a Chinese enterprise.
Indonesia - In February 2004, ZTE was awarded a commercial contract of USD 47.6 million by INDOSAT to construct a CDMA network. In July 2004, ZTE signed a contract with Telkom to build the NGN-DLC (Digital Loop Carrier) network in Jakarta and neighbouring areas.
Philippines - In March 2003, ZTE signed an agreement with the Philippines´ DIGITEL to help the latter build a NGN Tandem Switch Project. This is another breakthrough achieved by ZTE´s NGN products, following the construction of Romania´s backbone network Romania in 2003.
Nepal—In November 2004, ZTE deployed CDMA2000 1X equipment to build a state-of-the-art network that will cover the country´s major areas.
Following its powerful marketing plan in other continents around the world in 2005, ZTE will have a further promising growth in this region.
