ZTE corporation has beaten other rivals to successfully win the bid for DIGITEL´s Next-Generation Network (NGN) Tandem Switch Project, which is another breakthrough achieved by ZTE in the international markets, succeeding the backbone network construction for Romania in 2003. This indicates that Chinese communication equipment suppliers are in the leading positions among the global fierce Next-Generation Network competitions.

The project will adopt ZTE´s advanced Next-Generation Network solutions, providing Ditigel with new increasing broadband data network benefits. The high flexibility, high stability, excellent communication capabilities and extensive service capabilities of the product demonstrated in the bid won high praise of DIGITEL.

As one of the manufacturers owning the most complete set of Softswitch products, ZTE can provide operators with the complete scalability for the Next-Generation Network, with the products´ strong scalability and the design based on the telecommunication. Through long-term trials and tests, ZTE´s Softswitch products have successfully been commercially deployed in the home operation networks and overseas countries or regions.

In 1998, ZTE Corporation participated as a member of ISC, and became the first Chinese manufacturer to research and develop softswitch equipment. In 2001, ZTE Corporation obtained the first entrance network license from the Ministry of Information Industry (MII). In 2002, ZTE Corporation provided China Netcom with the first and largest real commercial application Softswitch network, covering more than 10 big cities in China. In 2003, ZTE Corporation was awarded to construct the national communication network for Romania, which will become the first national commercial application network based on Softswitch technology after the construction completed.
